The Strawberry Girl

A play of colors, patterns, and geometry. This project came about when my daughter requested a quilt, suggesting pinks, purples and fun patterns. Having little experience with such things, the design became a personal exploration in pairing soft with sharp, light with dark, bright with muted, mermaids, birds, butterflies and dresses with solids, dots and stripes. Because my go-to design strategy is “repetition with variation,” I opted to repeat the block while shifting the fabrics and colors. The three sections work together, but also allow for intrigue and visual exploration.
